Dimension Drifters was born from a friendship that began in 1985.

Marcel Koorevaar and Stefan Rijsmus grew up together in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Their love for gaming started earlyβ€”Marcel got his first Nintendo (NES), while Stefan had a Sega Mega Drive (Genesis). As kids, they spent countless hours playing and sketching their own game levels, dreaming of one day creating their own.

Now, decades later, that dream is becoming a reality. They are finally working on their first game together.

Stefan, already an experienced game developer, co-founded another studio, Sparrow Night, which created News Towerβ€”a game that’s been well-received, even earning praise from The New York Times, calling it β€œthe year’s most fascinating management simulation.”

But Stefan had another vision: to create a game that felt like watching an anime film from the ’80s and ’90s. That idea became Dimension Drifters.

In 2024, Marcel officially joined the project, and together, they set out to bring their vision to life. Along the way, they teamed up with an incredible group of artistsβ€”Dave, Sebas, and Laurentβ€”who helped shape the game’s unique aesthetic.

Now, Dimension Drifters is on its way, a game fueled by a lifelong friendship and a shared passion for gaming.
